I've been giving some thought lately to a possible late spring
Michigan letterbox gathering -- or perhaps a "Great Lakes" gathering -
- located centrally to include nearer areas of Illinois, Indiana and
northern Ohio.
Wondering a couple of things:
- First, is there interest? From MI? From surrounding states?
- Where exactly are letterboxers in MI located? I have a pretty
good handle on those in West MI, but not in the east or north.
- How far would people be willing to drive to attend? 1 hr? 2
hrs? 4 hrs? What is too far?
I know there was some talk of a Michigan gathering last summer, right
about the time I began letterboxing, but that kind of fell apart. I
have exchanged e-mail with the person who was trying to organize that
and hopefully we can avoid some of the pitfalls on this try.

Deb:
I am very interested in a MI gathering! Have done some boxing here in SE Mich., planted a box up near Alpena, have other boxes in the thought process. Have also done two large "event" letterboxing series at our stamp club's annual rubber stamp camp weekend (9 boxes in our first event, 13 boxes in our second event).
So, keep me posted! I had a very packed schedule last summer and fall, between work travel and stamp conventions. Maybe we have enough lead time now to consider dates that won't conflict with some of the stamp conventions.
Count me in!

Hi --
I'd be interested in such a gathering, especially if I could bring my two Golden Retrievers (well-behaved hikers) and might set up camp at a nearby campgrounds. I'd be willing to go on a 3-4 hour drive to get to a gathering.

I'd try to come from Chicago and would drive 4 hours to do so. It
would be fun to bring my golden retriver too.

I, too, would be interested! I'm over between
Flint and Lapeer.
Most of the questions would be about where the
location of the event would be. I have a pop-up camper and would have no
hesitation camping for the weekend if camping was available, hence, would be
willing to drive further. If camping was not available, then I would say
probably 2 hrs max for me personally.
THANKS for taking on this potential
project!
